MOVIE REVIEW:

Ah, that voice which this reviewer (who is in his late 20s, if that information means anything at all) grew up with. Whenever he hears that mousey voice belonging to a certain Mickey Mouse, fond memories would come to his mind. Lucky preschoolers, he thinks to himself – a TV series on Disney Channel which brings together Mickey and friends (you know who they are: Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and Daisy) in a preschool series that allow viewers (probably eight and below) solve specific age appropriate problems utilizing basic skills. And these would include identifying objects, colours and shapes.

Don’t scoff just yet. This is a series meant for preschoolers, and just because you are already all knowing about objects, colours and shapes, it doesn’t mean that the younfer ones can’t have their share of fun by watching this well produced series.

Three episodes of the series are complied on this disc. In "Mickey's Treat," Mickey and his friends dress up for a Halloween party, but they must make reach there before the moon is full, passing by candy corn paths and foggy woods along the way. What a treacherous journey! In "Goofy the Great", Goofy is a magician who needs to practice, practice, practice, before his big magic performance. With his kind friends’ help and encouragement, he manages to pull it off by learning how to count and identifying patterns. In "Doctor Daisy, M.D.", Daisy gets her friends to be patients and sees to their illnesses, so that she can get a doctor sticker. Of course, her friends help her by playing along and in the process, learning some of those basic preschooler skills.

If you are already a collector of this series of DVDs, or for that matter, enjoy watching the series on Disney Channel, you may want to include this in your collection. You’d already be familiar with the catchy main theme of the series, the way Mickey talks to the audience directly, the way you feel like you are involved in solving the problems on screen, and yes, that fun dance along which appears at the end of every episode.

If you are a proud parent, then this series is definitely recommended so that you can watch it with your toddler and spend some quality parent child time together (although it’s in front of the TV). One thing though, you may still have some problems making out what Donald is saying. And that’s one problem which this reviewer has up till today.

SPECIAL FEATURES :

This Code 3 DVD contains “Clubhouse Character Colouring Sheets” which kids can amuse themselves with. There is also a “Clubhouse Cookbook” which teaches you how to make seemingly mouth watering food like Mickey’s Pumpkin Cookies, Daisy’s Halloween Mud Pie and Goofy’s Rice Creepy Eyes. A 24-minute Bonus Episode “A Little Einsteins Halloween” is also included on the disc. In this particular episode, follow the gang as a Halloween party takes them to castles around the world, featuring art by the Lumbourg brothers and music by Edvard Grieg. Also, check out the “Sneak Peeks” section where you can watch previews of Cinderella and TinkerBell.
